| New Month = New Site 07.04.08 I'm sure my designer friends will all cry foul, given that this is my sixth or so website recreation in the last three years. Had I been a corporation, the routine reworking of my logo and brand would have confused the masses, devalued my brand and ultimately lost me a considerable amount of business. However, I think this one's here to stay for a while. The idea was based off wanting to update my old JM logo with a less-trendy font (not that the font from Grand Theft Auto wasn't "timeless," but well...) and color scheme. If it's one thing I've learned at my current place of employment, it's that clean and simple really make a more powerful impact than busy and in your face. It was also a desire to move away from the focus of "justmoody.com, the website" to "Jonathan Moody, the person." Previous incarnations have been focused on either music with a hint of art, or vice-versa. Flipping the focus back and forth normally aided in viewer confusion (as in, my mom saying "what about all your art? I can't find it."). I took a cue from my new (old) Univox amp too, in terms of simplicity. The amp has two knobs; volume and tone. Nothing more, nothing less. From that, I really stripped down the navigation. Don't worry; the music clips, schedule and gear that the dozen or so of you dearly loved is still here, but neatly grouped in the "music" section, as are the art subjects. All in all, I think this is finally a step in the right direction for my website. Everything is here, nothing is featured over another and it's easier to navigate. It's more focused, streamlined and pointed. Kind of like me. :) -JM |
